MODIFIES SUPREME DECREE Nº47, OF 1992, FROM THE MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN PLANNING, WHICH ESTABLISHES A NEW TEXT FOR THE GENERAL ORDINANCE OF THE GENERAL URBAN PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION LAW IN THE MATTER OF EXPIRATION OF CONSTRUCTION PERMITS.

On September 30, 2024, Supreme Decree No. 33 of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, dated September 27, 2024, was published in the Official Gazette. This decree modifies Supreme Decree No. 47 of 1992, issued by MINVU, which sets forth the new text of the General Ordinance of Urban Planning and Construction, with the purpose of extending the validity of certain building permits.

Citing "recently established emergency and disaster situations" as motivation, MINVU added a new transitional article to the General Ordinance of Urban Planning and Construction. It states: "Building permits that are valid as of the date this regulation comes into effect and have not yet commenced construction work will be extended by an additional eighteen months." The modification takes effect from its publication date, i.e., September 30, 2024.
